Ducks Unlimited Canada (DUC) would like to acknowledge the Habitat Conservation Trust Foundation’s (HCTF) continuing investment in B.C.’s wildlife habitat, helping to kick start its wetland rebuild program this year. With $250,000 from the HCTF, DUC will restore six B.C. wetlands and complete preliminary work for eight high-priority conservation projects. Vancouver – The Wilderness Committee strongly condemned Liberal leadership hopeful Christy Clark’s suggestion, reported in a recent Globe and Mail article, that Ottawa should be pressured to approve the so-called Prosperity Mine, located on the Chilcotin Plateau west of Williams Lake, BC. The proposed Taseko Mines Inc. operation would have turned Fish Lake into a tailings pond for mine waste.
