Fishermen and Conservation Groups call for federal action on Sewage Pollution

VANCOUVER: Today, the Sierra Legal Defence Fund, representing the United Fisherman and Allied Workers – Canadian Auto Workers (UFAWU-CAW) and the Labour Environmental Alliance Society (LEAS) demanded that the federal Minister of Environment, David Anderson, adhere to Canada's national and international commitments to eliminate toxic, environmentally persistent chemicals such as polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) from the environment and force the Capital Regional District (CRD) in Victoria and the Greater Vancouver Regional District (GVRD) to upgrade their sewage treatment facilities.
