Slow Food Vancouver’s Terra Madre Day

For this year’s Terra Madre Day, Slow Food Vancouver will explore the Joy of Preserving. Participants will take a look at the big picture of preserving food: conserving the land it’s grown on, supporting the people who grow our food, and learning about different cultures and their traditional ways of preserving. All three floors of W2 will be abuzz with food, beverages, and demos.

W2 Woodwards, 151 Cordova, Vancouver

Cost: Pay what you can. Suggested donation $15.

Sample tasting dishes created by local chefs using fresh ingredients provided by local farmers. Meet the farmers, chefs and community groups working to build a healthier food system.

• Wines by Lotusland Vineyards of Abbotsfort, BC
• Schramm vodka from Pemberton, BC
• Music by Frazey Ford

All proceeds from the event will go toward our Terra Madre Fund, which sends local BC farmers to Italy to attend the international Terra Madre meeting. The meeting is like a United Nations of food where producers, chefs and academics get together to share ideas about food sustainability. Our farmers come back from Terra Madre inspired and committed to producing food that’s good for us and good for the planet.
