ECO Canada keeps its finger on the pulse of the environmental sector

 

ECO Canada Profile of Employment 2010September 20, 2010 – ECO Canada’s 2010 Profile of Canadian Environmental Employment is now available for download. The study provides valuable information for employers, educators and professionals working in the environmental sector and students considering a potential future in environmental work. The data was gathered through a quantitative survey of 2,204 organizations across all major industry groups in Canada and weighted by statistics reported from the Labour Force Survey, the Census, and the Canadian Business Patterns Database in order to facilitate the estimation of total national and provincial environmental employment and the characteristics of these workers.

The report covers several topics including:

  • Profile of current environmental employment in Canada
  • Strategies used by HR departments
  • Best practices for retention and recruiting of workers
  • Employee engagement & turnover
  • Per-employee budgets for training
  • Hiring and hiring difficulties during the economic downturn
  • Future hiring expectations

The objective of ECO Canada’s Labour Market Information reports are to provide Canada’s environmental stakeholders including employers, the academic community, potential employees, and governments at all levels with current and accurate information to help guide initiatives and foster growth within the sector.
