UBC Continuing Studies is offering a one-day course of class discussions, featuring five of Canada’s top thinkers on sustainability, as well as recommended readings, lectures and simulations.
‘Imagining a Sustainable Future‘ moves from a broad theoretical overview of sustainability to a detailed
exploration of the philosophical, political, economic, social and
ecological drivers of the current sustainability challenge, and
critical analysis of proposed pathways to a sustainable future.

VANESSA TIMMER is co-founder and director of the One Earth
Initiative, a nonprofit research and advocacy group focused on
transforming unsustainable consumption and production patterns locally,
nationally and internationally. She has a PhD in Environmental Studies
from UBC, an MSc in Environmental Change and Management from Oxford
University, and a BA (Honours) in Sociology from Queen’s University.
