Local students want the City of New Westminster to do more to discourage consumers’ reliance on plastic bags.

Sadowski, co-president of New Westminster Secondary School’s
environment club, said the city’s Green Action Plan is admirable in its
attempt to address environmental issues but doesn’t adequately address
the issue of plastic shopping bags.
“Many of these bags end up as litter, which is detrimental in many ways,” she told city council Jan. 14.
