The CYCC Director is responsible for the effective operations of the Coalition. This person will be the key contact person for each partner organization, will clarify and facilitate operations and decision-making of the coalition, will fundraise for Coalition activities and for the Campus Climate Challenge as a whole, and will build the public profile of the Coalition and the Challenge across Canada. The Director will report to the Interim Council, which will be responsible for hiring, directing, and evaluating.
Key Attributes, Skills and Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess (or demonstrate capacity to quickly acquire) the following:
* Strong knowledge of climate change (Canadian and international policy, science, and advocacy) based on education and/or experience
* Bilingual (French/English)
* Demonstrated fundraising ability
* Coalition membership management and development experience
* Community outreach and grassroots organizing experience
* Non-violent direct action coordination and participation
* Media relations
* Team building and leadership
* Budget management and reporting
* Demonstrated ability to work unsupervised
* Experience working in the non-profit sector in a paid or voluntary leadership role
* Anti-oppression training (or relevant experience)
* Youth organizing experience
* Demonstrated ability to lead and coordinate projects and provide effective managerial oversight
* Passion for creating a sustainable future based on social and environmental justice
Terms of employment
Rate of Pay: $30,000/year
Start Date: mid August 2007
