Feds defend new NAFO measures amid renewed concerns over weak enforcement

ST. JOHN’S, N.L. (CP) – There are no loopholes in international fishing reforms designed to deter overfishing on the high seas off Canada’s East Coast, federal officials maintained Tuesday.
The assurance came in the wake of revelations that the measures leave enforcement of the new regulations in the hands of the offending country.
