Surrey – Enjoy two guided walks led by local experts and learn about the services provided by Surrey’s wetlands. Please dress for the weather and wear suitable footwear (hiking or rubber boots). You may wish to bring binoculars and a camera. Refreshments provided.
12:45pm – Elgin Heritage Park (13567 Cresent Road) @ West Parking Lot
Meet the Environmental Manager (City of Surrey, Engineering Department) for a guided tour of this important wetland habitat. Along the way, learn about upcoming City projects including: the realignment of Lower Chantrel Creek, the reinstatement of the Davidson Pond channel, and the development of the Coastal Flood Strategy.
2:15pm – Serpentine Wildlife Management Area (44 Ave west of King George Blvd) @ Ducks Unlimited Trailer
Drive to the WMA, park in the main lot, and follow the signs to meet at the Ducks Unlimited trailer. Meet the Head of Conservation Programs (Ducks Unlimited, BC Coast Region) to learn about the history, values, and climate change concerns surrounding this wetland.
