Climate for Life

This is one initiative that is close to my heart and is literally only 10 hours away from me by bus. WWF Nepal’s Climate for Life campaign’s aim is to raise awareness about the erratic impacts of climate change in the Himalayas. The web site (climate4life.org) contains compelling visual images, research and narrative accounts of the rapidly changing Himalayan ecosystem and how they are affecting the livelihoods of the Nepali people. On their web site, you will find stories and videos about how the change in local temperature, precipitation and, daily and seasonal freeze-thaw activity accelerates the degradation of alpine meadows; stories from villagers as they have seen an increase in forest fires due to drier weather, and the increase of devastating landslides due to retreating glaciers.

Help Spread the World

Our message to everyone, especially those who have trekked the Himalayan landscape, visited the local tea shops and drank dudh chyia, chatted with Nepali elders and played football with local Nepali children to help spread the word about this initiative.
