lue algae forces water ban in Quebec towns

Residents in Hatley Township, North Hatley, and Waterville, Quebec are on alert Tuesday after blue algae was discovered in Lake Massawippi.
The blue algae was found last Friday in Lake Massawippi and near North Hatley’s main intake pipes. Since the discovery, residents have been under a water ban, unable to use their water supply for drinking or bathing. Drinking the water can cause stomach pains and diarrhea while contact with skin can cause rashes.
