Burlington ON – Burlington Mall will hold its 4th Annual “ecoHero” E-Waste Collection from Wednesday April 24 through Sunday April 28, providing area residents with the opportunity to clear out broken down, outdated and obsolete electronics from their homes and offices.
Last spring’s collection broke all previous records by bringing in 19.7 metric tonnes of unwanted home electronics for safe recycling, surpassing the 2011 record by 1.1 metric tonnes.
“We’ve been really pleased with what has been achieved during the past three years,” said Kim LaRonde, Marketing Manager, Burlington Mall.
“It’s proven a welcome opportunity to dispose of unwanted electronics at no charge and fits right in with people’s spring cleaning schedule.”
“We all accumulate so many items that are meant to be replaced rather than repaired. It’s such a relief to safely dispose of these and create a little extra space in your home at the same time,” she added.
The ‘ecoHero’ E-Waste Collection is for the collection of electronics only, with the exception of appliances. Paint and car batteries will not be accepted. All electronic items appliances will be recycled in accordance with Ontario Electronic Stewardship regulations through EPS Solutions.
Small and medium-sized electronics will be collected inside the mall, Wednesday, April 24 through Friday April 26, in bins located beside Guest Services.
On Saturday and Sunday, April 27 and April 28, all items and specifically larger items should be brought to the ‘ecoHero’ E-Waste Collection area that will be set-up in the north parking lot along Fairview St. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
