SFU Master of Urban Studies Entrance Scholarships

The Urban Studies Program at Simon Fraser University will be awarding two ‘Special Graduate
Entrance Scholarships’ to qualified Master of Urban Studies degree candidates. 
These entrance scholarships are valued at $9,000 and will be tenable in January
.  We seek qualified applicants with a 3.7 or higher undergraduate g.p.a.
and a passion for understanding urban processes, functions and futures through
applied research.  This award is open to both Canadian and international

Located in the heart of downtown Vancouver, SFU Urban Studies delivers evening
graduate seminars by urban researchers and practitioners who offer insight into
urban society, culture, economic development, policy and sustainability .  We
offer a rich educational experience, engaged with local and international issues
both within and beyond the classroom and via our Visiting Fellows in Sustainable
Urban Development who have included:

  • James Howard Kunstler (author of ‘The
    Geography of Nowhere’ and ‘The Long Emergency’)
  • Hank Dittmar (Chief Executive
    of the Prince’s Foundation for the Built Environment)
  • Professor Andy
    Thornley (Professor of Planning, London School of Economics)

Our graduates
work for local, provincial and federal governments, private sector consultancies
and developers and non-government organizations focusing on urban issues. 

Join us in experiencing the urban
impacts of the 2010 Winter Olympics, as you learn about how Vancouver and other cities can better attain their
