Alternatives Journal launches new website

Waterloo, Ontario – Thanks to a couple of wiz-kid students from the University of Waterloo, Alternatives Journal has launched a great new website that can help you stay informed while saving time and money.

Ahead of the curve on website design and functionality, these students updated search features and improved the site’s usability so that you can easily find the information that you are looking for.

If you are new to Alternatives, this website will give you a great peek into the magazine. You will find select full-length articles, stunning graphics and editorials from each issue. If you’ve been with us for a while, you’ll recognize your favourite back issues and find places to comment on Alternatives‘ articles that have stirred your passion.
Here are a few highlights:

  • Easy visual slider so you can explore back issues
  • Commenting and discussion on articles and a few of our editor’s choice topics
  • Paperless store – save trees and money by downloading electronic versions of back issues
  • New paperless subscriptions – Now you can get Alternatives in an Electronic format OR print (or get both with our Synergy option!)
  • Faster & more intuitive navigation
  • Alternatives podcasts as posted on
  • “Articles” tab allows you to find articles by author name

In the coming months, the site will grow to include new features and components, including Book & Forth (our book review corner) and a blog that is destined to become THE place for candid and passionate environmental discussion. We welcome your comments about our new website; they will help us develop it into the site that Alternatives readers want it to be.
With 38 years of experience delivering award-winning environmental journalism, Alternatives offers thoughtful analysis and intelligent, peer-reviewed debate on world issues, the latest news and ideas, and profiles of Canadians who are making a difference.

Smart. Candid. Passionate.
