Ottawa Eco-Stewardship Fair

The 2009 Ottawa Eco-Stewardship Fair, billed as ‘Ottawa’s Grass Roots Community on Display’, brings together environmental organizations, small and large businesses and government to provide the public with the newest ideas for vibrant, safe, healthy and sustainable living.
Each year, the Ottawa EcoFair has grown in popularity. Last year’s event was the most successful yet with over 110 exhibitors and activities that attracted close to 5,000 visitors.
Local food and agriculture will again be a highlight in 2009. The 100-mile lunch, created for the first time last year by RA Centre Chef, Darcy Ryman is back by popular demand. There are also cooking demonstrations and samples from Ottawa’s Urban Element who will be  presenting seasonal delights, A Taste of Ottawa’s Countryside offering savoury treats from the Valley and Simply Raw introducing the latest in healthy and delicious new food choices.
There will be exhibits in Health, Beauty and Fashion, Transportation, Energy, Home and Garden, Nature, Mom and Babies, Eco-Tourism and Recreation. Toyota will have its hybrids on display and will be among some of the timely seminar offerings that include topics on food security, solar heating, green real estate and climate change from an automotive perspective.
Another highlight this year will be the all-new Children’s Eco-Carnival, co-sponsored by the RA Centre and the Ottawa-Carleton Wildlife Centre. It will be a fun and educational look at recycling, nature and wildlife and where our food comes from, with games, contests and lots of prizes to be won.
The Ottawa Eco-Fair promises to be an enjoyable, informative and engaging family event – a great way to welcome Spring and Earth Week. If that isn’t enough, there is a luxury package from the Brookstreet Hotel with an overnight stay, dinner in its renowned restaurant and breakfast the following morning awaiting a lucky winner.
The event will take place on Saturday, April 18, 2009 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the RA Centre, 2451 Riverside Drive, with Free Admission and Parking. For more information visit
