If humans realize the centrality of biodiversity to our lives, perhaps then we will act to conserve it and use it sustainably and equitably.
Green Books
Green Books is an exciting new initiative of the developing Environmental
Policy Institute (EPI) at Sir Wilfred Grenfell College. The project aims to
engage communities in conversations on cutting-edge and highly-acclaimed books
that explore environmental issues impacting the province.

Pedal for the Planet Launch a Great Success!
(NLEN) Friday, July 3rd marked the launch of the cross Canada Pedal for the Planet tour in support of KyotoPLUS.
Bike Tour Crosses Island to Pedal for the Planet
With Provincial Government support of $10,000, bike riders departed from St. John’s today as part of Pedal for the Planet – a nation-wide effort to educate Canadians about the significance of global warming and the importance of the upcoming climate change meetings in Copenhagen in December.
St. John’s Farmers’ Market
The second season of the St. John’s Farmers’ Market got off to an exciting start on Saturday, June 6th, 2009 with record-breaking attendance. Over 1400 people hungry for local food showed up and caused many vendors to sell out early. The market has have a variety of old and new vendors, workshops, music, fresh coffee and a fantastic feeling of community for the whole family.
