In polls, letters and dollars Canadians show increasing concern for Canada’s waters while industrial activity threatens a key marine site

HALIFAX, PRINCE RUPERT, TORONTO, Dec. 11 /CNW/ – Three recent
developments show Canadians' heightened concern over Canada's waters and
governments' stalled efforts regarding marine protection: a poll released
today shows 74 % of Canadians want governments to conserve marine areas; more
than 6,000 letters were presented to the Minister of Fisheries and Oceans this
afternoon; and World Wildlife Fund Canada recently raised over $400,000 from
private citizens to kick off a fund to protect Canada's waters.
