Sustainable Buildings Industry Council (SBIC)

The Sustainable Buildings Industry Council (SBIC) started out more than two decades ago as the Passive Solar Industries Council. We recently changed our name to more accurately reflect the full scope of our efforts in the allied fields of architecture, building systems and materials, energy analysis, and 'whole building' design and construction. We continue to be strong supporters of passive solar strategies (daylighting, thermal mass, shading, etc.) and technology-driven solutions such as building-integrated photovoltaics, but from the beginning, our work has touched on all aspects of sustainable design and construction: energy efficiency, renewable technologies, daylighting, healthy indoor environments, traditional materials, and resource conservation… all the components that make integrated, whole buildings possible. Now our name more accurately reflects our long-standing, performance-based approach to design and construction: The Sustainable Buildings Industry Council.
